About LightChange

The team behind the teams that keep things running.

We're a cybersecurity and infrastructure firm with Kentucky roots, working alongside the people who run utilities, co-ops, municipalities, and plant floors across the continental US. We handle the hard problems no one on your team was hired to cover full-time, and we do it inside your own environment, so you're never dependent on us to keep things running.

    Why we started

Putting the client first has been at the heart of LightChange from the very beginning.

Michael O'Coners, Founder and CEO of LightChange Technologies

“From our earliest days, I built this company because I saw too many customers not getting the standard of care they deserved. Plenty of MSPs lock their clients into an ecosystem and mark up vendor costs well past what's fair. A lot of IT shops are built to add as many clients as they can. We're built to go further with fewer, and to grow those partnerships so we succeed together.

It's why we're straight about what things cost, and why we'll point you to a cheaper product or a different approach when that's the right answer, even when it costs us the sale.

We've grown a great deal since those early days, and the principle has only gotten stronger. You still talk to the engineer who knows your network, and you can still talk to me. We've built this company so that part never changes.”

    How we work

We do the work with your team, and we teach as we go.

We teach your team what we're doing.

The engineers on your staff should come out of every project more capable than they went in. We're not here to build a black box you can't see inside, and we're not trying to make you depend on us to keep the lights on.

You get the engineer doing the work.

When something needs a conversation, you talk to the person who knows your network. No account manager in the middle, no ticket queue.

We're transparent about what things cost.

Hardware, licensing, labor. You see what you're paying for and why.

    We earn the relationship.

Twenty-two years in, most of our clients have stayed with us more than a decade. They stay because our work speaks for itself.

    Local roots

We're proof there's more to Kentucky than bourbon.

We're headquartered in Louisville, and the operators we work with are spread across the continental US: rural electric co-ops, water and wastewater authorities, municipalities, ISPs, and manufacturers. When a substation or a plant floor needs someone in front of the equipment, we travel out, and the person you get is the engineer who already knows your network.

Work moves by word of mouth in this business. Most of our clients came from another client telling them to call us, and we'd like to keep it that way.

    What we do

Specialist depth across four disciplines, plus the platforms we built ourselves.

    OT and ICS security

For the operational networks that can't go down. Our sharpest specialty.

    Cybersecurity programs

That turn the tools you already own into something a board and an auditor can read.

    Network infrastructure

Built for uptime, from wireless to BGP to fiber.

    Systems and cloud

Virtualization, backup, and cloud builds that have to be right the first time.

If you're carrying a problem your team can't get to, that's the conversation we're built for.

What's stuck on the whiteboard? Let's talk.

Maybe it's a network that can't afford to go down, an OT environment you can't see into, or a security program that's all tools and no plan. Whatever's on the board, tell us what you're working on and you'll talk it through with an engineer, not a sales person.
